Who Is This Woman and What is She Blogging About?
34 years ago there was a little blue-eyed girl. Her eyes were so big and blue and perfect, that one of them thought it could just sit back and relax, rest on its laurels, you know...get lazy. In fact, Miss Lazy Left got so lazy, that after some time, she just sorta...checked out and went dark. The doctors called it "strabismus".
Now the little blue-eyed girl is all grown up, and even though she can't bring the light back to Miss Lazy Left, she has decided it is high time to at least set her straight. So, with a couple of snips and sutures, Miss Lazy Left is soon to be marching on the straight and narrow path so that the blue-eyed woman can move with just a little more grace, power, and confidence in the world. But she can't do it alone, and that's why she has invited all of you along for the journey.

Hi, I'm seeing a surgeon on Tuesday for a consult for surgery. Hope I don't have the insurance woes that you are experiencing. I have Thyroid Eye disease. My one eye looks down and to the outer corner of my eye. Robomomdonna@aol.com

I wish you well on your consult. Don't expect insurance problems, but be prepared for them so that it doesn't discourage you.

I saw the surgeon and love him! He was so thorough. He's done 20,000 muscle surgeries! He is so happy that I didn't get orbital decompression! He said the muscle surgery works so much better without decompression! That shocked me. He said he will be able to get me a huge field of vision without seeing double. He says usually with graves you don't get 100% but it will be real close. I will get general anesthesia because he is doing 1 muscle in one eye and 2 muscles in the other. To get local anesthesia he would paralize the eye and that means the optic nerve so you would be blind for about 6 hours. He said that's ok if it is only one eye but he thinks it would freak me out to be totally blind....I AGREED! He will be using adjustable sutures. I'm so excited. They will get me into the hospital within a month! He said woman my age usually don't have much complaints about pain. The ones that complain the much are men in there 20's .....hmm I knew that...I have a 19 year old. heehee. The eyes will be red for 3 weeks. That sucks but I can deal with that. I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. O yeah, saw the endo yesterday and said I'm in remission as far as he's concerned and just going to keep a close watch on me with labs! It's a good day. I'm going to get cute tiny little glasses when I'm all done. CAN'T WAIT!
